Now that you've learned a bit about the Oscars, I want to know what you think of this year's awards. What do you think of the people who won? What do you think of the way the Oscars are chosen? Do you think it's fair?
As budding filmmakers, you need to form an opinion about how Hollywood recognizes films. Would you ever want to win an Oscar?

I think the people that win may hav had a great film last time, or they are old, and they still win an award for something they did last time. The way that they are chosen is stupid. It should be awarded to whoever had the best film THIS year no matter how old they are or how good their last film was. It is not fair at all. I wouldn't want to win an oscar until it is acually chosen for being good now, not later.
I think the peter and the wolf film was very original and a really good movie. I am happy for the people who won who deserved it. I thin kthat the oscars are a little bit riged by how if you have the politics on your side you will win. I don't think it is fair because the movies that win because the people who made it were popular are alot worse than the ones made by people who aren't so popular when it comes to politics and money and so on and so forth.My opinion about how hollywood recongnizes films is that they pick the most famouse or the riches cantidate and leave all the others alone. I would not like to win a oscar because all it means to me is that im popular or i have alot of money and so on and so forth.
I think that this years short film was a decent short film. I thought that it would be a little bit better than I would have expected. The ending i thought was really weird and I didnt like it when the duck got eaten by the wolf. Though the story would not really have a meening if the duck would not have gotten eaten.
I didn't agree with some of the oscar winners this year, yet some of them I thought were deserving of what they won. I also thought that the oscars were kind of boring and not very interesting to watch. I like the way that they choose the oscars, but I think they could make it even better by letting more people help choose. In some ways I think it is fair the way they choose, yet other ways, like the older people are more likely to get an oscar, is not fair. I think that Hollywood recongnizes films, by the scriptwriters, the directors, and the actors. It seems like a very, very, very hard business to get into. You have to have the "name" otherwise, it seems it is likely you will be overlooked by the bigger, older, more established names most of the time. I would like to win an oscar, it seems like a big accomplishment.
I think the people that won the oscars had done alot of hardwork. Althought I think that the way they choose it isn't always fair for example if someone did a great piece and they didn't win, and then they did a sequel that wasn't as good and they won because of the fame from the other piece is unfair. I don't think I would want to win an oscar because its alot of work and also I don't think that my work would be oscar worthy.
I thought the people that won didn't always deserve to win, but there are the cases where the right one wins. Like this year "No country For Old Men" deserved to win best picture because the scenery and place was beautiful. I like the way Oscars are chosen because it is just voting with in the Academy so its good. I think it is fair. I would never want to win an oscar.
I think that no country for old men was a good choice to win the picture of the year. it was a good plot line and preety good acting. peter and the wolf has been done many times and the one that won was a ggod one.
I think that the animated shorts that were nominated this year were okay. They were all very artsy but some of them were kind of weird. I think Peter and the Wolf was okay. I think that it's kind of unfair the way the Oscars are chosen because people who deserve to win don't always win. When the academy is voting they think about all the peron's performances and not just the one they are nominated for. I would rather be nominated for an oscar but it would be nice to win. It seems like if you are nominated thats a great honor.
I think that the awards were pretty fair. I think that the people that won were very deserving of this great honor. I think that the awards may not be chosen fairly, because only a certain number of people can vote on it.... I think that we should be able to get a little say in the process.But other than that I think that the awarding is fair. I am very glad that Miley Cyrys got to present an award and also walk down the red carpet.. and be the youngest person at the oscars. I think it would be a great honor to win an oscar but it would take alot of hard work!!
I think that the people who won deserved to win. It's fair because the were voted the best and everyone was most likely given a fair vote. Hollywood recognizes movies by the quality of the conten and the orginality of it. If i ever made a very original movie i think i would want to win an oscar.
I think they are good actors or writers. I think they for the most part deserved their oscars for their hard work in the movies. I think the oscars are chosen pretty well. I think they shouldn't have as many actors voting as film makers that know what makes a good movie. I think it can be fair but sometimes it isn't. Sometimes they pick just based on the acting or how good the movie really is and that is a fair choice. But when they choose someone just because they haven't one an oscar i think that is fair. I would love to win an oscar. It would feel like such an honor to win and that would make me feel really happy.
I think that out of all the short clips, peter and the wolf deserved to win because it was a pretty good film and the music made most of the movie seem happy. the end was also cool because peter had mercy on the wolf. I think the oscors are chosen not only because of the film but more so the person who makes the film. I would like to win an oscor for the honor of it.
i think that the people that won were pretty good. some of them, though didn't deserve it. overall though, it was good.i don't think that i ever would want to win an oscar even though it would cool.i don't think i would even be able to win one.
I think that the people that won an Oscar this year may have deserved it for the work that they have done this year. However, some people got an Oscar because of the work they have done in the past that was so great. Another reason somebody might win an Oscar, for the wrong reasons, is their age. If someone is older, I don’t think that means they should receive an Oscar over a competitor that was better, but younger. I agree with the concept of the way of choosing the Oscars, having a group of people vote on what they think is the best. I think that to get the majority of the nation's preference, the Academy should post an online poll where you can watch the videos and find out information about the people and cast their votes for your favorite. I don’t think it’s fair to choose winners for their past performances instead of what they were nominated for. I think it would be an honor to win an Oscar but I might feel guilty receiving it because watching the Oscars and seeing the wrong person win might make me doubt my performance. When we watch the nominees in class and you say which one had won makes me wonder if the Academy searches for the best or the best offer.
